3.Alyn Wallace

moon rays above a waterfall in Wales, UK
Sony a7 III | 14mm | f/2.2 | 30s | ISO 640

Location: Sgwd Yr Eira, UK

"I trekked 3km through the woods to get to Sgwd yr Eira in the Brecon Beacons hoping to capture some Moon rays, a photograph that's been on my list for over 3 years now. The Moon only comes into the right position in the days around the full Moons of November, December and January, so there's only about 10-12 days of the year that this is possible. Not only that but you need clear skies on one of those days and enough rainfall in the days before so that the waterfall produces a mist in front of it. It was a challenging scene to shoot, standing in the middle of the river in wellies the river shakes your tripod and ruins a lot of the long exposures. Then it was a battle with the mist constantly covering my lens and the -4°C temperature freezing my hands and feet. This is the second waterfall I've achieved this and the sight was just as ethereal and magical as the first time. Felt like I'd walked into Middle Earth."

4.Dave Lyons

waxing crescent moon setting over the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, USA
Nikon D850 | 500mm | f/7.1 | 1/30s | ISO 400

Location: Arlington, USA

"Sunday night's waxing crescent moon setting over the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. It was mostly cloudy skies, but the alignment opportunity plotted with PhotoPills was too good to pass up. While it remained cloudy during most of moon set, the moon was clear for the important minute over the memorial. You never know, so go!"

This is one the 2022 best Moon pictures, as Dave was February's Moonmaster.

5.Soraya Sampedro

"After waiting more than a year to be able to take this photo due to confinement and also the weather, I finally got it. Wolf Moon, first moon of the year 2022 over the Tower of Hercules in A Coruña. This was my first Moon photo planned with PhotoPills. In addition to capturing the Moon, I also tried to capture the seagulls that were flying near the Moon."

Nikon D750 | 600mm | f/6.3 | 1/640s | ISO 1250

Location: Pico Malacara, Spain

"A few days before the photo we went up to the place to determine the exact point where the two jumps and the two starters had to be built. Perhaps this is the most complicated part of this planning with @photopills. If you fail to decide the exact place where each thing is built, surely you have lost the photo. It was a high mountain ridge with little space and little slope, therefore it was necessary to build two starters to catch the necessary speed and two runs, one for each rider, and calculate the time it took each one to get to where I wanted them to be at the time of the photo. It was three days of construction it and control the times."

This is one the 2022 best Moon pictures, as Yhabril was March's PhotoPiller of the month.

8.Aflah Zikar

"This alignment I have been chasing for months now getting only one opportunity every month or two and failing due to overcast or bad weather and I finally got a clear day and was able to finally get this shot! Very happy with it!"

This is one the 2022 best Moon pictures, as Aflah was April's Moonmaster.

9.Josh Quattrone

"I had planned a full moon shot at the top of Engelberg, however, after a quick hot chocolate break, went back to check my shot and the moon had already moved out of position lol. So I went down to the bottom of the mountain and was able to capture the next best thing. So all in all best of both worlds. Great hot chocolate and great capture!"

human tower with full moon behind
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV | 400mm | f/5.6 | 1/320s | ISO 1000

Location: Requena, Spain

"Climbing to the Moon. It's been more than two years since I started dreaming about this photo. A lot has happened since then, and I think that, in some way, things happen when they have to happen. I have to say that it has been quite a challenge for me, and for @novamuixeranga from Algemesí, who accepted the challenge without hesitation. The so-called pink moon awaited us, the first full moon of this spring... The effort of the pineapple and Pau's synchronized ascent to reach the moon was one of the most magical moments I have ever experienced. It's still hard for me to assimilate what I experienced on Saturday: while the music of the Muixeranga was playing, the human tower rose before me while the moon rose behind them... today I have chosen this photo, but I will certainly publish more, since there are many more. I hope you like the photo, and that you enjoy it as much as I did dreaming and making it. They say that the one who walks alone goes faster, but the one who walks accompanied goes further. And I am lucky to be surrounded by a great team and friends who join me in my madness without thinking twice... the result is there. More than 60 muixaranguers united so that Pau, and all the girls and boys, could achieve a dream... touch the moon... You are going to excuse me for not naming all those who have participated, because surely I have missed someone. But I have to mention the president of Nova Muixeranga, Elba, and Joan @payo_joan, who have been so patient with me. I also cannot fail to mention Leo, Juan, Lucía, Salva and Jess, who have helped me in the technical part of the event and without whom all these crazy things can hardly be carried out successfully. Thanks so much all. Planned with @photopills."

This is one the 2022 best Moon pictures, as Toni was May's PhotoPiller of the month.

16.Eduardo Marcos

Location: Olombrada, Spain

"The king of the wasteland. The gardisancho juniper is a centuries-old icon of Castile. His longevity and his silhouette emerge on the vast plain, with the low mist, it creates an ethereal atmosphere. The crescent moon with the earthshine puts the icing on the photograph."

17.Yhabril Moro

Nikon D750 | 600mm | f/10 | 1/320s | ISO 640

Location: Villanúa, Spain

"Using the Moon as a compositional element is always a success. Many times we become obsessed with photographing huge Moons aligned with subjects and we forget about these moments, which are eternal. Moments that occur everyday in nature. In this photo, the planning was focused on filling the frame with all the elements and hitting the perfect light to have everything well lit, including the sky."

"Glück im Unglück - blessing in disguise. During this years Easter Sunday morning of April 17, I was hoping for a tree in Moon shot during the blue hour. I rushed for the right place in the steep hillside, only to get blocked by two big trees. In the remaining seconds before the moon would disappear, I stepped some meters to the left and shot away with a more and more overexposed moon, to get the blue sky and the Easter-egg-mook rolling down the hill. At the end I got "Glück im Unglück.""
