Photo: Moon setting behind the Arecibo Lighthouse.
Shooting Spot: 18.484946, -66.678905
Shooting Date and Time: September 7th 2025 at 5:51am.
PhotoPills Plan: Plan (KMZ file)
Description: The moon will set behind the Arecibo Lighthouse or Los Morrillos Lighthouse in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The tower of the lighthouse has a height of 60ft or 18m. The goal of the plan is to place the moon right above the lighthouse as it sets. The shot will take place right at the start of Civil Twilight, a couple of minutes before Blue Hour. Try to arrive between 5:00 and 5:15am in order to give you time to get to the shooting location and set up. After the shot we will stop for breakfast at a nearby café. Shooting distance is 1.3 miles or 2.1km so the moon will be big. It will have an apparent diameter of 66ft or 20m, about as wide as the whole lighthouse!
How to get to the Shooting Spot: Get directions to Salitre Mesón Costero Restaurant in Arecibo and park on the side of the road anywhere in the vicinity. Walk west towards Atlantica Apartments and right after the building turn right to the trail towards the beach (there is a boulder as to not allow cars in the trail). Make a right when you arrive at the beach and the shooting spot is right behind Salitre Restaurant. GPS Coordinates to the trail are (18.483893, -66.679559).
What to bring: camera, tripod, remote shutter, telephoto lens (anything between 100mm and 600mm).

PhotoPills Plan: Plan (KMZ file).
Description: We will aim to capture the moon rising behind the historic San Felipe del Morro Fort in San Juan, Puerto Rico from across the bay in Isla de Cabras National Park. There are many subjects to which to photograph the moon rising, from the fort's watchtowers, called Garitas, to the still functioning lighthouse. The tower of the lighthouse has a height of 60ft or 18m. The goal of the plan is to place the moon behind any of these subjects. The shot will take place at the end of Civil Twilight. Try to arrive between 6:00 and 5:15pm in order to give you time to get to the shooting location and set up. Shooting distance is 3,751ft or 1.4km so the moon will be wider than the subjects.
How to get to the Shooting Spot: Get directions to Isla de Cabras National Park and park at the end of the park near the local Police shooting range. Stay to the right and walk the coastline until you reach the World War II air defense battery.
What to bring: camera, tripod, remote shutter, telephoto lens (anything between 100mm and 600mm).

Shooting Date and Time: September 7th 2025 at 8:39 pm.
PhotoPills Plan: Plan (KMZ file).
Description: Join us in the Sant Llorenç del Munt i Serra de l’Obac Natural Park (Catalunya), a place where striking monoliths rise from the landscape, each with its own character. One of the most impressive is La Roca Mur, also known as "La Màquina de Tren" (“The Train Engine”). On this meetup, we’ll aim to capture a rare sight: the final moments of the eclipse perfectly aligned with the “chimney” of this beautiful rock. From our shooting spot (651 meters away) the moon will have an apparent 6.1 meters in diameter. We’ll take the shot right at the start of the blue hour, when the sun sits at -5.22°, bathing the scene in magical light.
How to get to the Shooting Spot: We’ll start our hike at the Marquet de les Roques parking lot. From there, it’s a 1.8 km walk with a +191 m elevation gain to reach our photo spot. The trail isn’t long, but it’s narrow, shaded by forest, and the shooting location is on a downhill slope, so expect a bit of a challenge.
This meetup is best suited for hikers with some experience. If you’d like to know more about the route or join me for the hike, drop me an email at [email protected]
What to bring: Camera, tripod, telephoto lens (100-500mm), headlamp and hiking equipment (weather-appropriate clothing (temperatures can drop during blue hour, light jacket or windbreaker, hiking shoes, water, snacks...)

Shooting spot: 41.271085ºN 1.352789ºE
Shooting date and time: September 7th 2025 at 8:33 pm
PhotoPills Plan: Plan (KMZ file).

The Sanctuary is 33 meters tall, and the shooting distance is 1.4 km, giving the Moon an apparent diameter of 13.6 m. It was designed by the architect Josep Maria Jujol, a close collaborator of Gaudí, and built in two phases: between 1926–1931 and 1984–1999. Its modernist style was inspired by the mountains of Montserrat. A true treasure of the region, which I discovered a year earlier when I was just starting in this discipline.
How to get to the shooting spot: From the village of Bràfim, on Avinguda de l’Alt Camp, take the turn onto Carrer d’Avall. This road narrows further ahead, large vehicles may find it tight. Continue along the street as it turns into a dirt track. At two junctions, always keep to the right. The shooting spot is located along this same track. However, out of respect for the neighbors and due to possible attendance, it is recommended to park on the outskirts of the village and walk to the shooting location. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Bràfim.

We will catch the moon as it rises on the Eastern horizon lower in the sky. The shoot will happen toward the end of the Golden hour with very nice light conditions. This is a very iconic shooting location. The bell tower stands out in the architecture of Tenerife's capital and it's a landmark in itself with a lot of history. The church Iglesia de la Concepción was built in the year 1500 and it houses ' La Cruz de la Conquista' (Cross of Conquest). This cross was disembarked by Spanish boats when they conquered Tenerife, in 1494, marking the end of the aboriginal civilizations of the island. Come early so that you have enough time to prepare.
How to get to the Shooting Spot: The shooting spot (Puente Serrador) is very close to Mercado de Africa, and there is a private parking lot next to it. Alternatively, you might find some available parking spaces right under the shooting spot, here. If you want to come with public transportation, there is a tramway stop (Angel Guimerá stop) just a couple of minutes away.
What to bring: camera, tripod, telephoto lens or 20-50mm lens and interval timer.

Shooting spot: 41.403028, -0.474854
Shooting date and time: September 7th 2025 at 8:30 pm
PhotoPills Plan: Plan (KMZ file).
Description: The Full Moon will rise already eclipsed and align with the ruins of the watchtower Pilón de las Levatas. Shooting distance is 2.9 km, and the eclipsed Moon will have an apparent diameter of 26.9 m. The shot takes place during golden hour (Sun elevation: -1.45º).
How to get to the shooting spot:
-The safest option is to meet at 8:00 PM at the meeting point:
41.403975, -0.466137
It’s a large open space: at the first roundabout if you’re coming from the bridge, or at the second roundabout if you’re coming from the N-II via the A1105 bypass.
-You cannot drive through the town center because of local festivities, the access will be closed.

-To go directly to the shooting spot:
If you’re coming from the Gelsa bridge, drive to the entrance roundabout and follow the A1105 bypass until the first dirt road on the left (Camino de la Barca Vieja). Follow this track to the shooting location. The road is wide, in good condition, and has enough space for parking.
If you’re coming from the N-II via the A1105, at the first roundabout take the bypass until the last dirt road on the right, just before the second roundabout.

Kyiv, (North Bridge)

Photo: Full moon between A-pylon of Northern bridge.
Shooting spot: 50.493896, 30.528173
Shooting date and time: September 7th 2025, at 7:57 pm.
PhotoPills Plan: Plan (KMZ file).
Description: The idea is to capture the full moon above the road, framed between the A-pylon of the Northern Bridge. Here are some key figures for the shot:
- The road is approximately 25–30 meters above the water.
- The vault or arch of the pylon rises 53 meters above the road, making it roughly 78–83 meters above the water.
- The full moon should have an apparent diameter of 7.9 meters, with its center positioned 65.7 meters above the water.
Symmetry will be one of the key elements of this composition; the full moon should align precisely with the axis of the pylon. I believe car lights on the road will create beautiful trails and add depth to the shot.
There will still be plenty of leaves on the trees and bushes, so it’s important to find a clear window between them. This may require minor adjustments to the shot on location.
How to get to the shooting spot: You can get there by car and park at point 50.490228, 30.525877 , or use one of the many public transport options to the Water Transport Academy stop.
What to bring: Camera, tripod, telephoto lens (400-600mm), phone with PhotoPills.
