Right around the March equinox, and right when the Sun is in the period of solar maximum, which means we will be more likely to see and photograph the dancing green lights of the Aurora!
Of course...
We’ll be taking photos all day long…
In March the total Golden Hour time lasts for about 4 hours per day in Lofoten!
But...

The Adventure
12 PhotoPillers | 2 PhotoPills Masters | Lofoten Islands (Norway) | Endless legendary photos

Warning! This is not a honeymoon...
We’re recruiting 12 brave PhotoPillers (PhotoPills and photography nerds) to join us on a 7-day expedition to photograph the Aurora Borealis and the magical winter’s Golden Light along with some of the most precious treasures hidden in the Lofoten Islands.
It’s winter and it’s going to be cold!
The average temperature is between 2ºC (35ºF) and -2ºC (28ºF). The mountains and hillsides will be covered in a white blanket of snow, creating a picturesque winter scenery.
Also…
The Sun is in the period of solar maximum, which means we will be more likely to see and photograph the dancing green lights of the Aurora!
And the golden hour lasts for more than 4 hours per day.
So…
This is a non-stop adventure to chase legendary photos and you are a key asset!
We have planned tons of photos, and we’ll travel many kilometers (and hike a few more) to capture them...
But we also want to maximize our flexibility in terms of itinerary and schedule in order to take advantage of all the opportunities that the changing weather will surely put in our way.
If we're fortunate enough to be out photographing the Aurora at night and it takes us into the late hours, we'll take a little extra sleep the next morning, skip Sunrise and kick start our day a bit later.
On the other hand, if the conditions make us skip the nighttime photography session, we'll rise and shine early to catch the Sunrise.
Whichever path we take, you can count on us to seize every photo opportunity and be right where the magic happens!
You are about to embark on a PhotoPills’ style journey. And it’s not going to be a honeymoon precisely... :P
You’ll be a true PhotoPiller!
Are you in?
Day 1. Monday, March 9th - Welcome to the Lofoten Islands

It’s Monday afternoon, and you land at Leknes airport (LKN) in Lofoten, located at the 68th and 69th parallels north of the Arctic Circle in North Norway.
Welcome to the Arctic!
With its dramatic mountains, picturesque fishing villages, pristine beaches, and ever-changing light, Lofoten offers a plethora of opportunities to capture mesmerizing images...
And we’re all ready for action!
After collecting your luggage, take the exit door to the main hall to meet Solli Kanari and Laura Oppelt... and probably a few more PhotoPillers :)
3:00 pm

Our first stop will be Eliassen Rorbuer in the village of Hamnøy, our base camp for the first 3 days of the expedition, and the oldest fisherman’s cottage resort in the Lofoten Islands. It’s a stunning place with a story and a heart.
It offers us the chance to stay in traditional fisherman's cabins, known as rorbuer, that have been modernized for comfort while retaining their original, rustic charm. Located right on the waterfront, these iconic red cabins provide an authentic Norwegian experience combined with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and fjords.
Here we will find traditional and modern fisherman’s cottages, sea house apartments and a restaurant (Gadus).
You’ll be sharing a traditional fisherman cabin (rorbu) with a few other PhotoPillers. You’ll enjoy your own private room and share the bathroom (1 bathroom for 2 PhotoPillers) and living room area. However, some of the rooms (individual) have bunk beds.
3:45 pm
Expedition briefing.
Solli and Laura will go over the itinerary for the week, explaining the logistics, the locations and the photo opportunities we’ve specially planned for you. They’ll also cover the recommended gear and some important safety instructions.
Now we are all ready for the action. There’s no time to waste when the light is this magical.
4:55 pm

We’ll walk for 10 minutes to get to the iconic Hamnøy Bridge…
This arched bridge in the Lofoten offers breathtaking panoramic views of rugged peaks, colorful fishing cabins, and the dramatic Arctic seascape. A sight to behold… and to capture with our cameras.
Hamnøy or Hamnøya is a picturesque fishing village in Moskenes Municipality, on the eastern side of the island of Moskenesøya, celebrated for its postcard-perfect beauty and quintessential Nordic charm.
Set amidst a stunning natural landscape of towering mountains, serene fjords, and crystalline waters, Hamnøy encapsulates the essence of the Lofoten archipelago. The village is characterized by its vibrant red and yellow fisherman's cabins or rorbu, which line the shoreline and add a vivid burst of color against the dramatic backdrop. These traditional cabins, often perched on stilts above the water, are a testament to the area's rich maritime history.
Hamnøy's quaint harbor, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and jagged cliffs, evokes a sense of tranquility and timelessness. Its wooden docks and charming bridges connect the village with a sense of nostalgia and authenticity.
The interplay of light and shadow across the landscape creates ever-changing vistas, making Hamnøy a canvas for stunning photography, especially during the golden hours of Sunrise and Sunset.
As we’ll be shooting here for the last part of the golden hour, let’s practice a bit our planning skills with PhotoPills.
So open the Planner and try to understand where exactly the Sun will be setting:

As the Sun sets in the west, the sky often ignites in a symphony of colors. The waves crash against the shore as we shoot our long exposures to capture the beauty of the moment.
Golden hour begins at 4:27 pm, Sunset is at 5:44 pm, golden hour ends at 6:18 pm and blue hour ends at 6:39 pm.
7:40 pm
Dinner at Gadus Restaurant.
Good food, warm conversation, and laughter will fuel us for the adventure ahead. Lofoten is a fishing hub, so get ready to enjoy lots of fish and seafood… But there are meat, vegetarian and vegan options too!
9:10 pm
We leave the restaurant and head back to the cabins, where we layer up and check our gear: it’s time for the real magic to begin.
9:40 pm

We’re back at Hamnøy Bridge. This time under a starry sky, ready to hunt the northern lights. Today, nighttime lasts for more than 6h in Lofoten...
The Moon is below the horizon...
Hamnøy is one of the best spots to photograph the northern lights in Lofoten!
All we need (and long for) when we’re out there in the cold, at night, is a clear sky and the greens, the blues and the reds of the Aurora dancing above our heads.
As the night progresses and based on the conditions, we might go to Toppøya as well.

1:50 am
Back in our warm cabins.
Get some well-earned sleep before the next adventure begins!
Photographic Pills:
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour at Hamnøy bridge.
- Aurora at Hamnøy and Toppøya (if there are clear skies and aurora activity).
Day 2. Tuesday, March 10th - The Cabin

5:00 am
Gooooood morning PhotoPillers!
Are you ready for another beautiful day full of incredible experiences?
Yeah?
Alright! Get your stuff ready!
6:00 am
For Sunrise, we will be photographing the fishing village of Reine from a panoramic viewpoint. Since there are no obstructions, the mountains will catch the very first light at Sunrise.
Here, we will have the opportunity to photograph both wider scenes and tight shots with the beautiful cabins, peaks, and fishing boats.
This bay is quite sheltered, and if there is no wind, we will get the reflection of Mt.Olstinden in the water.
Since the golden hour is pretty long (almost 2h), we will have time to try different compositions with great light.
Blue hour begins at 5:52 am, golden hour begins at 6:14 am, Sunrise is at 6:48 am and golden hour ends at 8:05 am.

9:00 am
Breakfast at Eliassen Rorbuer. Afterward, relax, read, or explore the area. This downtime allows for personal reflection before the day's exciting activities.
11:00 am
It's time to elevate your photography skills with an inspiring PhotoPills Class led by Solli and Laura. Get ready to learn lots of tips and tricks that will help you plan your photos much faster.
12:55 pm
Lunch at Anita’s Seafood. Their fish hamburgers are really mouth-watering.
2:05 pm
We make our way back to Eliassen Rorbuer, where we have a few minutes to relax.
3:45 pm

We wander towards the famous cabins of Sakrisøy to photograph the picturesque Olstindbua and the vibrant fishing huts from the roadside.
Sakrisøy's harbor, with its small boats and fishing paraphernalia, adds to the village's authenticity and offers a glimpse into the daily lives of the local fishermen.
Here we know a few good shooting spots to photograph the cabins and the mountains behind them.
There’s one yellow cabin that is perfectly placed for a super cool composition…
Wait and see!
4:55 pm
Before the Sun sets, we’ll do a little hike up to reach the top of a small hill we know. Here we can shoot towards Sakrisøy and towards the village of Reine.
Golden hour begins at 4:27 pm, Sunset is at 5:46 pm, golden hour ends at 6:19 pm and blue hour ends at 6:41 pm.

6:55 pm
Dinner at a local restaurant.
We'll all meet up for a lovely dinner at Restaurant Gammelbua. It's a really charming and popular spot. It'll be the perfect chance to look back on our day of adventures, share our favorite bits, and dig into a tasty meal made with the freshest stuff from around here.
8:45 pm
Right after dinner we’ll drive directly to Reinehalsen. A short walk from the parking lot takes us to the perfect shooting spot, where we set up to photograph the Aurora Borealis dancing above the dramatic peaks and fjords.
Once again, we’re ready at the planned shooting spot, waiting for the perfect conditions to occur (let’s hope they do!).
Reine is a great spot to photograph the northern lights in Lofoten!
Check the Moon using PhotoPills. It’ll be under the horizon all the time for the next few days. Night time starts at 9:03 pm.

1:50 am
Bed time at Eliassen Rorbuer, already dreaming of the next shot…
Sweet dreams!
Photographic Pills:
- Sunrise, golden hour and blue hour at Reine.
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour at Sakrisøy.
- Aurora at Reine (if there are clear skies and aurora activity).
Day 3. Wednesday, March 11th - Beaches and Bridges

4:35 am
Wake up!
Get ready for Skagsanden beach, our Sunrise location.
5:55 am
Skagsanden Beach is one of those spots that just feels like it was made for landscape photography, especially in winter.
It’s located on the coast of Flakstadøya, and it’s got everything: white sand, wild tidal patterns, and mountains that look like they’ve been plucked from a fantasy movie.
The cool thing about this beach is how open and wide it is. You’ve got these tidal pools and streams carving through the sand, constantly shifting around and revealing patches of dark sand that make the scene pop.
So there’s no shortage of creative angles to explore here!
Catching a Sunrise here in March is honestly something special.
The Sun rises low and slow, just behind the mountains off to the right. Even though it stays pretty close to the horizon, the light can be incredible, especially when it starts to peek through the gaps between the mountains and fjords.
You’ll see the wet sand and shallow pools start reflecting all those soft sky colors, making the foreground super dynamic. And that mix of black sand, snow, and water textures is perfect for adding depth.
When the light hits the mountain peaks just right, it’s magic.
We’re hoping for that early pink-and-gold glow today. As the Sun comes up, those peaks in the distance should start catching the light beautifully.
Now’s the moment to scout a good foreground and get set for a long exposure. The idea is to smooth out the water and clouds into a silky layer that contrasts with all those textured details around it.
Let’s get everything dialed in before the light show starts…
Blue hour begins at 5:48 am, golden hour begins at 6:09 am and Sunrise is at 6:44 am.

9:00 am
After a thrilling morning at Skagsanden, we'll head back to Eliassen Rorbuer for a well-deserved breakfast. Take your time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of our traditional fisherman's cabins.
11:00 am
Post-processing class with Solli and Laura.
The goal of this class is to show you, step by step, the exact workflow to edit your landscape images, improve them, and make them stand out.
12:55 pm
Lunchtime!
Prepare your taste buds for a delightful meal at Anita's Seafood, renowned for its delectable fish hamburgers and fresh local fare.
2:05 pm
Arrive back at our cabins at Eliassen Rorbuer. This is your chance to unwind, review your morning's shots, or simply enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings.
3:20 pm

Next, we head to Ramberg Beach, where a picturesque red cabin awaits.
Nestled amidst a sweeping white sand beach and majestic mountains, it presents a quintessential Lofoten photographic scene.
The photo we want to capture displays a charming red cabin situated on a pristine white sand beach, with rugged snow-capped mountains rising majestically in the background.
4:30 pm

After a short drive, now it’s time to photograph two beautiful bridges and a spectacular super pointy mountain.
The Fredvang Bridges are iconic structures, renowned for their stunning and picturesque setting.
The south bridge is called Kubholmleia Bridge and the north bridge is Røssøystraumen Bridge. The length of both bridges is 240 m (787 ft).
Set against a backdrop of dramatic mountains, serene fjords, and the clear waters of the Norwegian Sea, the Fredvang Bridges offer a captivating blend of human engineering and natural beauty.
These bridges have become a symbol of the Lofoten Islands, drawing photographers, hikers, and travelers who seek to experience the harmonious convergence of rugged terrain and graceful architecture in this remote and captivating corner of the world.
Tip: It’s also a great location for a drone shot.
Golden hour begins at 4:32 pm, Sunset is at 5:49 pm, golden hour ends at 6:23 pm and blue hour ends at 6:45 pm.
7:05 pm
You're in for a treat at Gjestegard Restaurant, tucked away in the charming village of Ramberg!
It's the perfect spot to grab a bite and soak in the amazing scenery.
8:50 pm

We get to Skagsanden and get ready to start shooting!
This is our third day chasing the Aurora and the stars…
And Skagsanden Beach is a fantastic location for photographing both!
Facing north with a clear, open view to the horizon, Skagsanden is one of Lofoten’s best-kept secrets for northern lights photography. Even with low activity, the first hints of green begin to ripple above the sea and climb slowly behind Mount Hustinden, casting a surreal glow across the fjord.
As every single night during our expedition, the Moon is below the horizon so we’ll have a very dark sky.
As always, we’ll aim for the Aurora and the thin Milky Way. But shooting a dramatic night long exposure under the stars is going to be a blast too!
1:20 am
It’s been a very special day. Today we got to capture two of Lofoten's most iconic locations. I’m sure you’ll sleep very well tonight.
Photographic Pills:
- Sunrise, golden hour and blue hour at Skagsanden Beach.
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour at the Fredvang Bridges
- Aurora at Skagsanden Beach (if there are clear skies and aurora activity).
Day 4. Thursday, March 12th - Northern Delights and New Horizons

4:15 am
Rise and shine, fellow adventurers!
Let's make the most of every ray of light and every breathtaking landscape.
5:40 am

After walking towards the iconic Hamnøy Bridge, we’re ready to greet the first light of day.
We’re in position, just in time for the start of blue hour, when the soft, cold tones turn the fjord and mountains into a dreamscape.
For Sunrise, we’ll be photographing the iconic red cabins in Hamnøy with Festhæltinden in the background.
Since there are no obstructions, the mountains will be catching the very first light at Sunrise.
Plan & Pray!
7:05 am
We board the bus and head to Toppøya, another hidden gem for stunning winter frames.
From here the composition is different. The view of the landscape and the peaks will surely surprise us.
From the planned shooting spot, we’ll be photographing Olstinden (675 m or 2,214 ft), a stunning peak rising from the sea.
The low Sun casts a warm, golden light contrasting with the snowy landscape's blues. The fjord might reflect the peak or offer dramatic waves for foregrounds.
The soft winter light enhances the snow-covered peaks' textures, making details crisp and vibrant.
Blue hour begins at 5:44 am, golden hour begins at 6:05 am, and Sunrise is at 6:39 am and golden hour ends at 7:56.

9:00 am
After enjoying breakfast at Eliassen Rorbuer and checking out, we'll hit the road to our next lodge.
12:15 pm
On our way, we'll take a break for lunch at Lofotsenteret mall in Leknes, a convenient hub offering a variety of options.
You'll find a local café, perfect for a hot drink and a quick bite.
For those looking to stock up on essentials, there are two grocery stores.
This is also an excellent opportunity to prepare for the Arctic weather, as the mall features stores where you can purchase high-quality winter jackets and boots, ensuring you're warm and comfortable throughout the rest of your Lofoten adventure.
1:30 pm

We get to our final base: the beautiful Hattvika Lodge.
The lodge, situated in an authentic fisherman's area, offers a rich sense of history and a splendid view of Hattvika harbor. You'll find yourself amidst the islands' iconic red fishermen's cottages, or rorbu, which dot much of the coastline.
Here you’ll be sharing a traditional fisherman cottage or rorbu with a few other PhotoPillers. You’ll enjoy your own private room and share the bathroom (1 bathroom for 2 PhotoPillers) and living room area.
2:00 pm
Join Solli and Laura in a PhotoPills class.
A new opportunity for you to unlock your full potential and return with stunning images and knowledge to elevate your craft.
3:00 pm
Check in time.
Settle into your cabin. Then explore the lodge or unwind before we continue our day of adventures.
4:30 pm

We hit the road to Haukland beach, and stop in one location with impressive views looking southeast.
Haukland beach is one of the Lofoten Islands' gems and super popular with good reason.
The beach is surrounded by towering mountains, almost like a natural amphitheater, which makes the views incredible.
It offers many and diverse shooting opportunities. Sunsets are ideal in March, providing stunning light scenarios and chances to capture sunbursts. The river's textures and changing position offer leading lines and reflections. Additionally, the beach's left edge features gorgeous rock formations perfect for seascapes with beautiful backgrounds.
Golden hour begins at 4:36 pm, Sunset is at 5:53 pm, golden hour ends at 6:27 pm, and blue hour ends at 6:49 pm.

7:05 pm
Time for a nice and warm meal at a local restaurant. It’ll be a great chance to relax and savor Lofoten's distinct flavors.
8:50 pm
Back at Haukland Beach. This time, on a mission to chase the Northern Lights.
Since this beach faces north towards Mannen, the most significant peak around, it becomes an ideal location for capturing the Aurora Borealis.
Let your creativity flow and play along with the reflections on the beach and the whimsical shapes of the Lady in Green.

12:20 am
Time to hit the sack and get some proper rest for tomorrow, the Secret Day.
What will it consist of?
Hold on…
You are about to find out! ;)
Photographic pills:
- Sunrise, golden hour and blue hour at Hamnøy Bridge and Toppøya.
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour at Haukland Beach.
- Northern Lights at Haukland Beach (if there are clear skies and aurora activity).
Day 5. Friday, March 13th - Secret Day

I’ve been giving you lots of details of this amazing expedition to the Lofoten Islands.
Maybe far too many...
But on March 13th we’ll do something very special…
What will that be?
Well, you'll have to be there, with us, to figure it out :P
Day 6. Saturday, March 14th - Rocks, Waves & Dancing Skies

4:30 am
Ready for another amazing day?
Light won't wait for us!
5:50 am
Vareid, over on the island of Flakstadøya, has a totally different vibe compared to the sandy beaches you might see elsewhere in Lofoten.
The shoreline here is raw and rugged with dark, jagged rocks jutting out into the ocean with waves constantly crashing into them.
At Sunrise, Vareid's warm light illuminates distant mountains, offering a dynamic contrast for photography.
The rocky shoreline provides excellent leading lines, and the often-wild water is ideal for practicing seascape techniques, from silky long exposures to detailed short ones.
Abstract compositions of algae and lichen-covered rocks are also possible.
Blue hour begins at 5:36 am, golden hour begins 5:57 am, Sunrise is at 6:31 am, and Golden hour ends at 7:47 am.

8:10 am
On our way back to Hattvika Lodge, we’ll stop by the Lofotsenteret Mall to stock up on snacks and food for lunch.
Since our cabins at Hattvika are equipped with kitchens, you’ll have the flexibility to choose between pre-made meals or cooking your own.
9:00 am
After a proper breakfast, the morning is for relaxation. This allows everyone to unwind, review yesterday's photos, and prepare for the afternoon's photo adventures and learning, refreshed and ready to enjoy Lofoten's incredible scenery.
12:00 pm
Now it’s time for a roundtable session.
The idea is each PhotoPills Master spends some time sitting down with 6 different PhotoPillers for 15 minutes each.
During that time, you can ask about anything related to photography, whether you need advice, feedback on your photos, help planning shots with PhotoPills, or even a bit of guidance on editing your images. It's totally up to you!
1:30 pm
It's time for lunch, and the comfort of your cabin.
3:35 pm

Time to hone our photographic skills again, this time at the Steinsfjorden-Mærvollspollen outlook, with it’s stunning panoramic views of fjords and mountains.
The low winter Sun casts long shadows, reflecting golden and pink hues off the calm fjord waters. Snow-dusted mountains glow, contrasting with the cool water and sky. Besides, the bay's curvature creates natural leading lines.
We timed our shoot for direct sunlight, making a beautiful contrast with the ground below.
Tip: This could be a great opportunity to use ND filters. Long exposures are a great fit in this scenery ;)
4:40 pm

We’ll catch the Sunset at Unstad, a small coastal village renowned for its rugged beauty. No wonder it’s a favorite among surfers and photographers alike.
In March, the white mountains and the wild dark waters provide a perfect setting for capturing the ethereal light of the Sunset. The beach may also have patches of snow, adding visual interest and contrast against the dark rocks and sand.
All that said, it’s prime season for winter surfing. If we’re lucky, there will be surfers in the water, adding a unique touch to an already epic landscape photograph.
We’ll have a direct view into Sunset from wherever we choose to shoot from.
Rest assured, we’ll move between shots to make the most of it!
Golden hour begins at 4:43 pm, Sunset is at 6:00 pm, golden hour ends at 6:34 pm, and blue hour ends at 6:56 pm.
7:05 pm
Indulge in a delightful evening meal at an authentic local eatery.
8:35 pm

If we’re lucky and the aurora forecast looks promising, we’ll conclude our day at Storsandnes, one of the most breathtaking beaches in the Lofoten Islands, with an unobstructed view towards the north.
You’ve got dramatic mountains on one side and the endless Norwegian Sea on the other. Total peace.
Besides, there’s almost no light pollution, and when the aurora shows up, it’s seriously jaw-dropping. The lights swirl in shades of green and purple, and when they reflect off the wet sand or the water, the whole scene feels unreal.
This beach gives you tons of ways to get creative. You can frame the lights dancing over the sea, use the jagged rocks as silhouettes, or find little tidal pools that mirror the sky. It is so open that you can capture these massive wide-angle shots that really show off the scale of it all.
12:20 am
Our bed at Hattvika Lodge feels so comfortable tonight…
Rest well my friends, tomorrow is our last day.
Time flies!
Photographic Pills:
- Sunrise, golden hour and blue hour at Vareid.
- Afternoon shots at Steinsfjorden-Mærvollspollen.
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour at Unstad.
- Aurora at Storsandnes (if there are clear skies and aurora activity).
Day 7. Sunday, March 15th - The Farewell

4:15 am
Good day everyone…
Get ready to rock one more time!
5:35 am
Our last day begins early, with the Arctic night giving way to our final blue hour just before dawn.
This morning, we’ll hit the road one last time, returning to Storsandnes Beach to prove it’s an amazing place no matter the time of day.
Now, we’ll enjoy a front-row seat to the soft, magical light of an Arctic Sunrise. This wide stretch of white sand, flanked by rocky outcrops and framed by snow-covered peaks, will look completely different from the night before.
We’ll arrive in the blue hour, when everything feels still and frozen in time.
Then, as the Sun begins its slow rise above the horizon, the world starts to shift. The sky fades from deep blue to soft pinks and gentle golds, spilling light across the open beach and illuminating the snow-dusted peaks that surround us.
You can’t think of a better way to end this Expedition!
Blue hour begins at 5:31 am, golden hour begins at 5:53 am, Sunrise is at 6:26 am and golden hour ends at 7:42 am.

8:30 am
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, take some time to pack your bags, ensuring all your belongings are accounted for and securely stored.
With everything prepared, it's time to bid a fond farewell to Hattvika Lodge, a place that has likely offered comfort, stunning views, and perhaps even some unforgettable experiences.
As you depart, take one last look at the charming surroundings and carry the memories of your stay with you on your onward journey.
9:50 am
After a quiet walk back to the parking lot, we head to Café Huset in Leknes for a quick stop to grab snacks for the journey home.
10:30 am
With memory cards full and hearts fuller, we drive to Leknes Airport for our flights back, carrying new skills, stunning images, and unforgettable memories of the Arctic winter.
As this adventure winds down, it’s hard not to feel a mix of everything: gratitude, wonder, and that bittersweet ache that comes from leaving something truly special behind.
The Lofoten Islands... they’ve left a mark.
From the jagged peaks rising out of icy fjords to the soft, surreal glow of the Arctic light… we weren’t just photographing landscapes. We were living them.
We came chasing Northern Lights, chasing golden light, chasing moments.
But what we found went deeper: the quiet awe, the shared laughs, the late-night edits, the hot drinks after freezing shoots…
That feeling of looking around and thinking… “Yeah. This is exactly where I’m meant to be.”
Saying goodbye to this wild, weather-sculpted wonderland isn’t easy. Because the memories are not just saved on memory cards, they’re etched into us.
Thank you, Lofoten, for every dramatic sky, every still reflection, every moment of pure photographic joy.
This isn’t goodbye.
It’s a promise.
We’ll be back.
Until then, keep chasing the light, my friends. The journey’s far from over.

Do you want an example of how huge this will be?
This is a glimpse of what happened in the PhotoPills Expedition to Iceland... But we had so many adventures and it was so much fun... We can’t wait for the Lofoten Islands, (Norway)!
But you don’t have to take our word for granted. Here’s what some PhotoPillers say about the PhotoPills adventures:

“I went to Iceland expecting to have the opportunity to photograph the marvelous landscape and master nightscapes. What I encountered was so much more – 14 kindred souls from across the globe who share a passion for photography. Together we expanded our creative boundaries, learned from one another and had an insane amount of fun in the process. “From the very moment the guys from PhotoPills announced the expedition to Iceland... I didn’t think it twice! I was using PhotoPills but not at its full capacity, so I had no better chance to learn from the creators of this amazing app. The experience was even more amazing than anything I could have imagined. In Iceland, I discovered a bunch of folks as crazy about photography as I am. I had a blast!

FAQs
What’s the temperature in the Lofoten Islands in March?
It’s winter and it’s going to be cold.
The average temperature is between 2ºC (35ºF) and -2ºC (28ºF). The mountains and hillsides can get covered in a white blanket of snow, creating a picturesque winter scenery.
It’s key to wear different layers of clothing (base, middle and shell layers) to be able to adapt to any temperature change, snow and rain.
What do you recommend I bring along for the expedition?
Your sense of adventure and fun, your camera and of course your sense of humor.
Besides that? Once you book your spot, we’ll send you further details and suggestions about what to bring (gear, clothing, etc.).
Is travel insurance included in the price of the expedition?
No. Participants are suggested to purchase national or international medical and travel insurance coverage.
Also, we recommend you to choose a travel insurance that:
- Covers trip cancellation costs.
- Covers Covid-19 health, travel and cancellation costs.
What is the cancellation policy?
We hope you don’t need to cancel your spot, but if a situation arises where you don’t have a choice, our cancellation policy is the following.
If you choose not to join the Expedition, a cancellation fee may apply. This fee will be equivalent to the cost of the Expedition, minus any savings or additional income we generate if we’re able to fill your spot with another participant.
If we’re able to fill your spot, we’ll refund the payments you’ve made, deducting a €300 administrative fee and any non-refundable costs retained by our travel partners.
However, if there are unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination or nearby that significantly affect the execution of the Expedition or the transportation of passengers to the destination, no penalty will be applied, and we will refund all payments you have made toward the Expedition.
Refunds will be paid by the same method that the original payment was made.
