07:00 am
Good morning, PhotoPillers!
It’s breakfast time – fuel up for another epic day ahead!
08:35 am
With our bellies full and gear packed, we check out of the hotel and hop into our 4x4s, our private drivers ready to whisk us off on today’s adventure.
First stop: a local shop to grab some snacks and packed lunches – perfect for a quick bite on the move.
And with that, the journey begins! Adventure awaits!
08:50 am
And off we go, heading south to the enchanting Quivertree Forest Rest Camp – our next stop on this incredible journey!
This unique camp is home to two main attractions: the iconic Quiver Tree Forest and the fascinating Giant's Playground, a surreal landscape filled with striking rock formations and, of course, countless quiver trees.
Here’s a fun fact to impress your friends: the Quiver tree (Aloidendron dichotomum) is native to South Africa and Namibia.
Despite its name, it’s not actually a tree – it’s a type of aloe, a succulent that can grow up to an astonishing 30 feet tall! Perfect for photos that make you look tiny in comparison!
02:20 pm
Upon arriving at the Quivertree Forest Rest Camp, we’ll settle in, check into our accommodations, and take some time to relax and recharge.
It’s the perfect moment to get to know each other, share some laughs, and ensure our gear is prepped and ready for our first exciting photography session in this magical location.
04:35 pm

Before Sunset, we’ll venture to a serene, secluded spot where a pair of majestic quiver trees awaits discovery.
Giant’s Playground feels like stepping into a hidden realm – a natural wonderland where massive boulders appear as though they were stacked by actual giants.
It’s a dramatic and otherworldly landscape, with quiver trees scattered across the rugged terrain, their thick, twisting branches adding an ethereal touch.
These trees are truly one-of-a-kind, with their striking silhouettes and alien-like forms. The whole area feels like it belongs to another planet, making it a dream location for both landscape and astrophotography.
Our mission: to highlight the beauty of the quiver trees against the golden hues of Sunset.
The soft, warm light will enhance the contrast between the smooth, weathered rocks and the unique shapes of the trees.
Shadows and highlights will dance across the scene, making textures come alive.
Experimenting with different angles and compositions, we’ll capture the raw, surreal beauty of this incredible place.
Open PhotoPills to check that...
Golden hour begins at 5:28 pm, Sunset is at 6:02 pm, blue hour begins at 6:18 pm and blue hour ends at 6:28 pm.

If the skies are clear, it’s the perfect opportunity to fire up the Night AR tool and scout for compositions.
The mission? Find an epic quiver tree to use as your foreground and line up some incredible Milky Way shots.
Imagine capturing the entire Milky Way arch gracefully stretching above the tree—sounds like a legendary panorama waiting to happen, right?
Just a thought... but one worth chasing!
06:35 pm
As darkness envelops the landscape, we make our way back to the lodge/camp, where a delicious dinner awaits to refuel us after an unforgettable day.
07:35 pm

After dinner, we head back to Giant’s Playground for our first astrophotography session of the expedition.
Remember all that scouting we did before Sunset? Now it’s time to put it into action!
The Moon has set, leaving the sky dark and perfect for stargazing. About 36% visible, the waning crescent Moon won’t rise until 3:03 am, giving us prime conditions for capturing the stars.
We make our way to that solitary quiver tree we discovered earlier – the one you just knew would be perfect. The Milky Way is about to align beautifully above it, creating the exact composition you envisioned.
Isn’t it amazing being in the southern hemisphere? The Milky Way’s core is colossal and feels almost close enough to touch. A truly breathtaking sight!
The astronomical twilight begins at 6:57 pm and the Galactic Center is visible from 7:25 pm until 6:11 am. The waning crescent Moon (36%) rises at 3:03 am.
11:25 pm
Time to call it a night. Tomorrow we’ll rise early to return to Giant’s Playground for a magical Sunrise session. Rest well, PhotoPillers – another legendary day awaits!
Photographic pills:
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour at Giant's playground.
- Milky Way arch and Star Trails at Giant's playground.
Day 3. Saturday, June 21st - The Quiver Tree Forest

06:00 am
Good morning, team!
Grab your cameras – it’s time to head back to Giant’s Playground!
It’s just a short drive away (you remember the way, right?), but we need to be there and set up before Sunrise at 7:34 am.
Let’s move – adventure and epic shots await!
07:00 am

Now that you’re familiar with the terrain, it’s the perfect chance to capture all those compositions and shots you couldn’t squeeze in yesterday – especially in the magical early morning light.
The boulders? They’ll look absolutely stunning bathed in warm side lighting, with shadows adding depth and highlights emphasizing their incredible textures and shapes.
And those quiver trees? They’ll steal the show once again, standing tall and proud, beautifully silhouetted against the glowing sands and the shadowy dunes, ready to take center stage in your frame.
Blue hour begins at 7:09 am, golden hour begins at 7:19 am, Sunrise is at 7:34 am and golden hour ends at 8:08 am.
08:25 am
After wrapping up our Sunrise session, we return to the lodge for a well-deserved breakfast and some downtime to recharge.
12:50 pm
A short 20-minute drive takes us to Keetmanshoop, where we’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch and soak in the local vibe.
02:10 pm
Back at the lodge, it’s time to relax and catch up on some much-needed rest before the evening’s adventure.
04:50 pm

Just a short stroll from the lodge lies the enchanting Quiver Tree Forest – our next destination.
Let’s grab our gear and head out to explore this natural wonder!
This forest is a true treasure, dotted with hundreds of towering quiver trees. These ancient plants, with their spiky leaves and thick, gnarled branches, create a landscape that’s nothing short of mesmerizing.
As we wander through the forest, we’ll scout for fresh perspectives and unique compositions for our Sunset shots.
The afternoon light here is something magical – soft, golden, and transformative. It casts a warm glow across the desert, turning the quiver trees and their rocky surroundings into an otherworldly scene.
When the Sun dips lower, the entire forest is bathed in golden hues, while long shadows stretch across the ground.
It’s a dramatic and surreal setting, perfect for capturing the unique beauty of Namibia’s desert flora in all its evening glory.
Golden hour begins at 5:28 pm, Sunset is at 6:03 pm, blue hour begins at 6:18 pm and blue hour ends at 6:28 pm.
07:00 pm
We return to the lodge for dinner – a chance to refuel and share stories from the day.
08:00 pm

After dinner, we head out to Giant’s Playground for our next astrophotography session. By now, the landscape is cloaked in complete darkness – perfect for stargazing and photography.
As we arrive, the stars are breathtakingly bright. The lack of light pollution here makes the Namibian sky one of the clearest and most awe-inspiring you’ll ever experience.
This is our chance to refine compositions and experiment with shots we might’ve missed last night. The surreal rock formations and iconic quiver trees take on a mystical quality under the starlit sky.
We’ll frame the Milky Way arching above these unique shapes, using the rugged boulders and dramatic silhouettes of the trees to create striking foreground elements.
The result?
Images that showcase not only the grandeur of the galaxy but also the raw beauty of Namibia’s wild landscape.
The astronomical twilight begins at 6:57 pm and the Galactic Center is visible from 7:26 pm until 6:11 am. The waning crescent Moon (15%) rises at 4:11 am.
11:50 pm
It’s been a long day so we head back to the hotel where our super comfortable bed is waiting for us... Sweet dreams!

06:00 am
Wake up, PhotoPillers! Today, we kick things off with a short walk to the enchanting Quiver Tree Forest.
07:00 am
Mornings in the Quiver Tree Forest are pure magic...
As the Sun rises, its low, golden rays cast a warm glow over the trees and desert, making the landscape even more breathtaking.
Our mission today is to capture these iconic trees bathed in soft morning light, creating bold silhouettes against a colorful, glowing sky.
The interplay of light and shadow highlights every intricate detail of the quiver trees, adding drama and vibrancy to your shots.

But it’s more than just photography – it’s about experiencing the tranquil transition from night to day, as the forest slowly awakens.
There’s something deeply calming about this moment, and it’s worth every click of your shutter.
Pro tip: Look for abstract compositions by focusing on the intricate details of the trees. The secret to a truly memorable shot often lies in the small, overlooked elements.

We arrive at the lodge and settle in for a delicious lunch.

04:15 pm
Feeling excited?
You should be!
Fish River Canyon is just a short 25-minute drive away.
Let’s load up the vehicles... time’s ticking, and the Sun isn’t waiting for anyone!
04:40 pm

Welcome to Fish River Canyon, a jaw-dropping natural wonder in southern Namibia.
Not only is it Africa’s largest canyon, but it’s also the second largest in the world, trailing only the Grand Canyon... a true masterpiece of nature’s design.
With its towering cliffs and deep, winding gorges carved by the Fish River over millions of years, the canyon is a sight to behold. Its rugged beauty and sheer scale leave everyone in awe.
For the perfect shot, we’ll position ourselves on the eastern rim, gazing out toward the west. The late afternoon light is magical – it enhances the canyon’s intricate layers, textures, and vibrant hues, while the long shadows add depth and mystery to every frame.
As the Sun dips below the horizon, the landscape transforms into a glowing masterpiece of golden tones – an unforgettable moment to capture.

Good morning, PhotoPillers! Get ready for an epic day filled with surprises and incredible photo opportunities.
Let’s make it legendary!
04:00 am
We hop into the vehicles for a short 30-minute drive to the Fish River Canyon lookout.
At night, under Namibia’s pristine skies, Fish River Canyon is absolutely jaw-dropping. It’s like the perfect playground for night photography. From the eastern rim, the view to the west is nothing short of magical.
With zero light pollution (a Class 1 on the Bortle scale, meaning the stars shine at their brightest), the rugged cliffs and winding canyon create a striking contrast against the brilliance of the night sky.
It’s one of the best places to photograph the Milky Way in all its glory.
Our mission?
Capture the Milky Way arching majestically over the canyon, with the Galactic Center stealing the show.
Picture the vast, dramatic canyon below and the infinite stars above... It’s the perfect blend of Earth’s grandeur and cosmic wonder.
This is a shot you’ll treasure forever!
The astronomical twilight begins at 7:09 pm and the Galactic Center is visible from 7:27 pm until 6:16 am. The waning crescent Moon (7.2%) rises at 5:28 am.
06:45 am

If the weather cooperates, we’ll venture to another lookout on the ridge for a fresh perspective on the canyon’s majesty.
Sunrise here is truly magical.
As the golden light creeps across the horizon, it slowly transforms the canyon, revealing its intricate textures and dramatic layers. Deep shadows enhance the rugged terrain, while the warm glow highlights every detail, creating a breathtaking contrast.
By 8:26 am, sunlight will cascade onto the canyon floor, painting a mesmerizing scene where light and shadow dance together, showcasing the canyon's immense scale and serene beauty.
The secret? Timing that precise moment when the first rays dive into the canyon’s depths. It’s an unforgettable spectacle, pure magic waiting to be captured.

02:10 pm
After lunch, we continue westward toward our next destination... Lüderitz.
03:30 pm
We check in at the Luderitz Nest Hotel, our base for the night. Take some time to relax and recharge for the evening’s photography session.
04:30 pm

Kolmanskop, just a 15-minute drive from the hotel, is our destination for the afternoon... and what a spot it is!
This ghost town, tucked away in the Namib Desert, is a photographer's dream.
In the early 1900s, Kolmanskop thrived as a bustling diamond mining town, but by the 1950s, the diamonds were gone, and the people moved on.
Today, it’s like stepping into a hauntingly beautiful time capsule, where crumbling buildings and invading sand tell a story of nature reclaiming its space.
Our focus will be on capturing the eerie charm of Kolmanskop’s abandoned structures...
Imagine sand spilling through doorways, sunlight streaming through broken windows, and faded, peeling wallpaper illuminated by soft, golden light.
Each room holds a unique blend of forgotten elegance and desert resilience!
We’ll explore compositions that showcase the surreal fusion of vintage architecture and shifting dunes.
From the intricate details of sand-filled hallways to the stark contrasts of light and shadow, every frame is an opportunity to bring out the haunting allure and rich history of this one-of-a-kind location.
Let’s push the boundaries of creativity and make some unforgettable images!
Golden hour begins at 5:40 pm, Sunset is at 6:14 pm, blue hour begins at 6:30 pm and blue hour ends at 6:40 pm.

07:30 pm
Dinner is served at the hotel, and it’s the perfect way to wind down after a day packed with adventure.
09:00 pm
It’s been a long and rewarding day. Tomorrow, if the skies are clear, we’ll aim for some stunning astrophotography.

Day 6. Tuesday, June 24th - The Haunted House and the Dead Tree

03:30 am
Rise and shine, PhotoPillers!
As promised, it’s an early start today. We’ll head out to Garub Railway Station for a truly magical astrophotography session.
Once a humble railway stop along the historic railway line connecting Lüderitz to Keetmanshoop, Garub is now a quiet, atmospheric location that offers a glimpse into Namibia's rugged past and its stark, enchanting landscapes.
The station itself is abandoned, its weathered structures standing as silent witnesses to the desert’s harsh, unrelenting beauty.
Surrounding it is a seemingly infinite expanse of arid plains and rolling dunes, where the interplay of light and shadow creates an ever-changing canvas.
04:30 am

We find ourselves is a remote desert spot featuring an abandoned house and a single, weathered tree standing stoically nearby.
The area exudes an eerie, almost surreal charm, surrounded by the vast desert’s striking textures. It’s the perfect stage for capturing hauntingly beautiful images.
The goal this morning is to photograph the abandoned house framed under the Milky Way’s Galactic Core.
The interplay of the desolate structure, the solitary tree, and the celestial brilliance above creates an unforgettable, dreamlike composition.
The astronomical twilight begins at 7:35 pm and the Galactic Center is visible from 7:35 pm until 6:21 am. The waning crescent Moon (2.2%) rises at 6:43 am.
06:15 am
Once the astrophotography session wraps up, we’ll drive to Kolmanskop to greet the day with another extraordinary location.
07:05 am

We’re back at Kolmanskop, where the haunting beauty of its ruins continues to captivate and inspire.
Time seems frozen here, as golden desert sands flow into the crumbling remains of once-prosperous buildings, creating a surreal blend of nature reclaiming the remnants of a bygone era.
With the first light of Sunrise streaming through shattered windows and open doorways, the interplay of warm, glowing tones against the cool, shadowed interiors reveals a striking contrast, perfect for storytelling through photography.
Our goal is to bring Kolmanskop’s ghostly allure to life with creative compositions: sand spilling through ancient doorways, faded wallpaper glowing in the soft morning light, and forgotten corners that whisper tales of lost dreams.
This eerie silence isn’t just haunting – it’s an invitation to capture a place where history and nature collide, crafting images that resonate with mystery and emotion.
Blue hour begins at 7:22 am, golden hour begins at 7:32 am, Sunrise is at 7:47 am and golden hour ends at 8:22 am.
09:42 am
Back at the hotel, we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast and indulge in some well-deserved rest.
12:30 pm
Lunch is served at a local restaurant, a chance to recharge and savor Namibian flavors.
02:00 pm
Post-processing class!
After a quick break at the hotel, it’s time for the first post-processing class of the expedition!
Carel and Laura will share their editing techniques to help you refine your images and elevate your photography to the next level.
03:30 pm
Armed with fresh inspiration and new ideas, we’ll gear up and return to Kolmanskop for what promises to be an unforgettable Sunset session.
The truth is, this hauntingly beautiful ghost town never loses its charm. Every visit offers something new to discover, ensuring we never tire of its enigmatic allure.
04:12 pm

Kolmanskop at golden hour is a photographer’s paradise.
The warm, late-afternoon light accentuates the contrast between the desert’s cool tones and the faded grandeur of the town’s structures.
The striking contrast between the encroaching desert sands and the remnants of Kolmanskop’s former grandeur creates an atmospheric setting that’s nothing short of a PhotoPiller’s dream.
Sand has infiltrated nearly every corner, and the interplay between the cool, muted tones of the abandoned houses and the warm, golden afternoon light creates a mesmerizing visual harmony.
Our mission is to capture the ghostly allure and historical significance of this once-thriving town, challenging ourselves to find fresh, creative compositions that bring this iconic location’s haunting beauty to life.
Golden hour begins at 5:41 pm, Sunset is at 6:15 pm, blue hour begins at 6:30 pm and blue hour ends at 6:40 pm.
06:47 pm
Back at the hotel, we drop off our gear and relax for a bit before dinner.

With everything in place, we’re ready to immerse ourselves in the untouched beauty of Namibia’s wilderness.
The desert is calling, and an unforgettable adventure is about to unfold!
10:40 am

From Luderitz to Walvis Bay!
Our epic Exodus across the Diamond Coast begins...
Over the next five days, we’ll embark on an extraordinary journey to one of the most untouched and pristine corners of the planet: Namibia’s enigmatic Diamond Coast.
This remote stretch of coastline is a mesmerizing fusion of stark beauty and haunting history.

Its fog-draped shores, known as a ship graveyard, are littered with the skeletal remains of vessels that succumbed to the treacherous waters... some dating back more than a century.
These shipwrecks tell tales of both tragedy and resilience, standing as monuments to the perilous nature of this untamed land.

Here, the roaring Atlantic collides with a sea of golden desert dunes, creating a dramatic landscape of jagged rocks, shimmering salt pans, and windswept sands.
Often cloaked in an eerie mist, the Diamond Coast feels like another world entirely – raw, rugged, and undeniably captivating.
Yet, despite its harshness, life thrives here. Desert-adapted elephants, lions, and hyenas traverse the arid plains, while massive colonies of seals line the shores, attracting scavengers like jackals and brown hyenas.

Our journey will take us deep into this surreal wilderness, where we’ll drive over colossal dunes, camp in the most untouched locations, and explore the secluded secrets of the coast.
At night, the skies will leave us breathless. Under some of the clearest and darkest heavens on Earth, we’ll have unparalleled opportunities for astrophotography.
And by day, we’ll hunt for wildlife, marvel at shipwrecks, and capture images in settings that few photographers have ever seen.
What truly sets this adventure apart is the rare chance to document a place that feels like uncharted territory.
Every shot you take will be a piece of a story that remains largely untold.
Flexibility is key as we navigate this wild and ever-changing environment, so while a precise schedule isn’t possible, one thing is certain...
This will be an adventure you’ll carry with you forever!

Photographic pills:
- Sunrise, golden hour and blue hour in the Diamond Coast.
- Midday shoots in the Namib desert.
- Sunset, golden hour and blue hour in the Diamond Coast.

04:00 pm
We’ve made it... Walvis Bay at last!
After bidding farewell to our unforgettable Exodus along the Diamond Coast, we reach our cozy retreat for the night: the Flamingo Villas Boutique Hotel.
Time to check in, settle down, and unwind.
After days of adventure in the wild, there’s nothing quite like the comfort of civilization – it feels like pure bliss!

The bay’s rich marine life includes Cape fur seals and southern right whales, adding to its natural allure.
We’ll head straight to the promenade, a stunning spot to capture flocks of flamingos in their element.
Imagine them wading in shallow waters or soaring against the sky, their pink feathers popping against the serene coastal landscape.
Whether you’re after a close-up of a single flamingo or a wide shot of the entire flock, this place offers endless possibilities.

Day 13. Tuesday, July 1st - The Red Desert

06:45 am
Rise and shine, PhotoPillers!
Today, we’ll unwind in the comfort of a cozy lodge nestled in the heart of the world’s oldest desert.
But before that...
We’re starting the day right with a photography session just steps from our hotel. Thanks to its incredible location, all we need to do is stroll across the street to capture the elegance of flamingos against the stunning morning light.
So grab your gear and join the group – it’s time to kick off another unforgettable day!
07:20 am

Walvis Bay is a haven for bird enthusiasts and photographers alike.
The promenade offers stunning views of the bay and its wetlands, where flocks of flamingos gather in the shimmering shallow waters. It’s a photographer’s dream: the perfect mix of elegant birds, peaceful reflections, and a serene coastal backdrop.
Our mission?
To capture the flamingos in all their graceful beauty!
We’ll aim for close-ups of their delicate features, dynamic wide-angle shots of the flocks, and – if we’re lucky – those magical moments when they take flight, showing off their vibrant pink wings against the morning sky.
The interplay of early light on the water and the flamingos creates a scene that’s simply unforgettable.
Blue hour begins at 7:19 am, golden hour begins at 7:28 am, Sunrise is at 7:43 am and golden hour ends at 8:16 am.

08:20 am
Breakfast time at the lodge! Enjoy a hearty meal and pack up your gear – another epic day awaits.
09:10 am
We’re back on the road, heading south toward the coast, in search of crimson dunes and a slice of Namibia’s most famous apple pie!
The journey is a long one, but it’s dotted with fascinating stops.
First, we’ll cross the Tropic of Capricorn – a fun photo op at the iconic sign. Sure, it’s a bit touristy, but it’s a great excuse to send a selfie to your friends and family to let them know you’re alive and thriving!

12:20 pm
Our next stop is Solitaire, a quirky, dusty little settlement on the edge of the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
Here, you’ll find a collection of charming quiver trees, some wonderfully photogenic rusting vehicles, and – you guessed it – the legendary apple pie.
It’s the perfect pit stop to stretch your legs, refill our tanks, and indulge in a sweet treat.
01:00 pm

With lunch in our bellies, we hop back into our 4x4s with our private drivers and set off toward Sossusvlei, one of Namibia’s most iconic destinations.
Nestled in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is home to some of the world’s tallest sand dunes, towering nearly 400 m (1,300 ft).
The rich red hues of the dunes come from oxidized iron in the sand, creating an otherworldly palette.
Add in the resilient desert plants dotting the landscape, nourished by the Atlantic breeze, and you’ve got a painterly mix of ochre, red, and even hints of blue.
02:10 pm
Once we arrive, we’ll check in at the Dead Valley Lodge – a stunning oasis in the middle of the desert.
Take some time to relax, cool off, and recharge for the evening’s adventures.
04:10 pm
Sossusvlei is full of hidden treasures, and it’s time to uncover them with our cameras. Buckle up – this road takes us right into the heart of the Namib Desert’s iconic red dunes.
We’ll pause at several spots along the way to capture Namibia’s breathtaking desert vistas.
Among the highlights is the legendary Dune 45, a massive sand dune that stands out with its iconic curves and incredible views.

04:50 pm
As we venture deeper into the desert toward Deadvlei, the mesmerizing beauty of the Namib unveils itself in all its glory.
Towering red dunes and stark salt flats stretch endlessly, creating a surreal, otherworldly landscape that feels like stepping onto another planet.
In the late afternoon, the desert comes alive as golden light dances across the dunes, casting dramatic shadows that highlight their sweeping curves and intricate textures.
Keep an eye out for unique elements to elevate your shots – perhaps an oryx gracefully wandering through the scene, adding both scale and a sense of story.
These small details will bring depth and narrative to your compositions, showcasing the desert’s captivating blend of harshness and beauty.
Golden hour begins at 5:47 pm, Sunset is at 6:20 pm, blue hour begins at 6:36 pm and blue hour ends at 6:45 pm.

06:39 pm
After Sunset paints the dunes in warm, golden hues, we’ll return to Dead Valley Lodge for a cozy dinner and some well-deserved relaxation.
07:30 pm
Dinner is served! The lodge’s incredible restaurant offers a buffet-style dining with something for everyone, accompanied by sweeping views of the rugged desert landscape.
The chalets are connected by sandy walkways that lead to the main lodge, where you’ll find a lounge, bar, and wooden deck with a pool – perfect for soaking up the tranquil desert atmosphere.
09:00 pm
Bed time! Tomorrow is the Secret day :P
Photographic pills:

Day 14. Wednesday, July 2nd - The Secret

I’ve been sharing all kinds of details about this wild expedition to Namibia, including the amazing Diamond Coast.
Maybe even a few too many...
But here’s the thing – on July 2nd, we’ve got something truly special planned.
What is it, you ask?
Well, you’ll just have to join us to find out.
Let’s keep a little mystery in the mix, shall we?
Day 15. Thursday, July 3rd - The Dead Forest

03:30 am
Get up and get ready, PhotoPillers...
It’s the last early morning of our epic expedition!
Grab your gear and let’s make this one count.
04:00 am
The Moon has set, with only 50.8% visibility earlier, leaving the sky in pristine darkness... Perfect conditions for astrophotography.
We’re making our way to a lone tree near the lodge, where the Milky Way is poised to align perfectly... A dream composition waiting to be captured!
Being in the Southern Hemisphere is truly magical; the Galactic Core here is massive, vivid, and absolutely breathtaking.
And now, as we arrive at the planned shooting spot, it’s time to bring this vision to life and immortalize the moment in our frames!
The astronomical twilight begins at 7:13 pm and the Galactic Center is visible from 7:41 pm until 6:20 am. The waning crescent Moon (56.8%) rises at 12:58 pm.

06:10 am
With our Milky Way shots safely captured, we make our way back to the hotel.
Here, we’ll pick up our breakfast "to go" and gear up for one last morning of unforgettable magic.
06:20 am
The park gate opens right at Sunrise (7:41 am), and soon, the crowds from outside the park will start pouring in.
But thanks to our stay within the park’s boundaries, we hold a priceless advantage... We can reach Deadvlei before the rush.
Let’s head to the gate, line up, and prepare to claim the perfect spot for our next extraordinary shoot.
07:56 am

We’ve made it!
Now, the mission is clear... Capture the mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow as the sun rises over the red dunes of Deadvlei.
As the shadows stretch across the stark, white pan, the petrified trees stand like sentinels from another time, their dark silhouettes casting haunting shapes across the sand.
The key is to shoot low, almost at ground level, using the golden hues of the dunes as a dramatic backdrop for the trees, still in the shadows.
It’s a scene straight out of a dream.
Blue hour begins at 7:19 am, golden hour begins at 7:29 am, Sunrise is at 7:44 am and golden hour ends at 8:17 am.
09:11 am

After an unforgettable morning in Deadvlei, it’s time to make our way back to the vehicles and return to the hotel for checkout.
10:30 am
As we leave the red dunes behind, we begin the drive toward Solitaire.
The desert landscapes rolling past offer the perfect opportunity to reflect on the memories we’ve made during this extraordinary journey.
11:40 am
We make a quick pit stop in Solitaire, grabbing lunch “to go.”
This charming, dusty settlement is a unique slice of Namibian life and a great place to stretch our legs one last time in the desert.
12:25 pm
Back on the road! We’re heading toward Windhoek, leaving the desert behind as we make our way to the capital.
03:50 pm
Arriving in Windhoek, we check in at The Weinberg Windhoek, our luxurious final stop. Take some time to relax and soak in the last moments of this adventure.
05:00 pm
Post-processing class!
We regroup for the second post-processing class with Carel and Laura.
In this session, they’ll walk you through their step-by-step workflows, showing you how to edit your landscape images and make them truly shine.
06:15 pm
Time for a roundtable session!
Bring your questions, share your thoughts, and learn from the collective wisdom of the group. It’s a great opportunity to wrap up the trip with some valuable insights.
08:00 pm
Dinner at a local restaurant... Our final meal together.
Let’s celebrate the adventure, the friendships, and the incredible images we’ve created along the way.
09:30 pm
It’s been a long and rewarding day.
Recharge with a well-deserved rest because tomorrow, we’ll bid farewell to this unforgettable expedition.
Sweet dreams, PhotoPillers!

7:00 am

The final morning is here, and it’s time to pack up and gather for one last breakfast together.
Let’s savor these moments as a team, surrounded by the memories of an epic adventure along Namibia’s Diamond Coast.
10:00 am

Do you want an example of how huge this will be?
This is a glimpse to what happened in the PhotoPills Expedition to Iceland. We had so many adventures and so much fun... We can’t wait for Namibia’s Diamond Coast!
But you don’t have to take our word for granted. Here’s what some PhotoPillers say about the PhotoPills adventures:

“I went to Iceland expecting to have the opportunity to photograph the marvelous landscape and master nightscapes. What I encountered was so much more – 14 kindred souls from across the globe who share a passion for photography. Together we expanded our creative boundaries, learned from one another and had an insane amount of fun in the process. I am confident that everyone came away from the experience a better photographer.”

“From the very moment the guys from PhotoPills announced the expedition to Iceland... I didn’t think it twice! I was using PhotoPills but not at its full capacity, so I had no better chance to learn from the creators of this amazing app. The experience was even more amazing than anything I could have imagined. In Iceland, I discovered a bunch of folks as crazy about photography as I am. I had a blast!
Photography is a continuous learning process, you always find something new that motivates you to improve. And this adventure made me improve more than I could imagine.”

"The PhotoPills guys know how to create a fantastic experience. They bring an infectiously fun energy and are always willing to drop some handy photography knowledge on you that you will take with you. You take their trip and you'll for sure have a good time, get some amazing pics and leave a better photographer."

“During my experience in Iceland I lived wonderful moments and had surprises that were beyond the expected. It completely exceeded my initial expectations! Sharing knowledge, experiences and ways of working and living photography with such a great group has been one of the most enriching life experiences I have ever had.
Who he said that learning and knowledge sharing can not be wonderfully fun?”

“I can't say enough about what a fantastic time I had during the PhotoPills Iceland photo tour! The guys from PhotoPills and Donal Boyd were so knowledgeable, accommodating, and especially lots of fun. Never a dull moment – nonstop action and shooting of amazing landscapes for 10 days. I came away with enough images and memories to last a lifetime!”
